About Amanda

Founder of Drive Away Cancers!

In February 2022, my family and I heard those three dreaded words — “Amanda, you have cancer.” Two months later, after undergoing a double mastectomy and four rounds of chemotherapy, we faced those same words again — this time, it was my father who was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer.

On August 15, 2022, my father and I walked into Texas Oncology together. I was there to “Ring That Bell” — marking the end of my chemotherapy — while he was beginning his first treatment. It was a day filled with both joy and sorrow, a moment that forever changed my outlook on life and strengthened my purpose.

During my journey, I learned about Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and their incredible work supporting patients — including hosting head-shaving events to show solidarity with those in treatment. As a licensed cosmetologist, I was inspired to give back and soon became their volunteer cosmetologist — a role I’ve proudly held for the past two years.

I’ve also been blessed with the unwavering love and support of two dear friends — Mrs. Colleen and Carol, my “Gemini Twin.” From the very beginning, they were my biggest cheerleaders and believed in this dream before it even became a reality. Their faith and encouragement inspired me to turn my pain into purpose — and that’s how Drive Away Cancers! was born.

Drive Away Cancers! stands as a movement of hope, community, and compassion — bringing people together to raise awareness, support cancer fighters and survivors, and remind everyone that no one drives this journey alone.

"So proud of my friend Amanda, whose strength, grace, and determination continue to inspire everyone around her. After facing her own battle with breast cancer, she turned her experience into purpose by founding Drive Away CANCERS!, helping others navigate their journeys with hope and support.
Amanda hosted her second annual Drive Away CANCERS! Golf Tournament, and it was an incredible success! Congratulations, Amanda, on your positive spirit, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to making a difference. You’ve turned adversity into action, and your light shines so bright for so many."
